Growing in wisdom or getting too big for your britches

Jupiter transits through housesAstrology identifies Jupiter is the planet of expansion and confidence. This planet takes roughly twelve years to circle around the Sun, so its progress through each house of your natal chart takes about a year. During this period, you may find that you are given more opportunities in the sector of life that house represents or that you feel more willing to take a leap of faith in that area. Although Jupiter can bring gifts, it can also be somewhat of a con artist luring us into a false sense of security when rolling the dice.

Jupiter’s transits through houses 1 through 6

Jupiter is currently in the late degrees of Taurus and will move into Gemini on June 12 where it will remain until its June 27, 2013 ingress into Cancer. Look at your natal chart to see which house Jupiter is currently visiting, and then read the description. These are some of the things that typically occur as Jupiter moves through these areas of the chart, but obviously your mileage will vary depending on the existing structure of your life.

1st house: When Jupiter crosses your Ascendant and moves into your first house, you tend to feel more confident. This may get a promotion at work or get a new job offer. You may decide to start teaching. You could find yourself allocating more money to your wardrobe, hair appointments and other matters relating to your appearance. There is a possibility of gaining weight. Also, your sense of right and wrong is very strong at this time and you may take a moral stand which eventually puts you in conflict with others.

2nd house: You may decide to put your money where your beliefs and values are, for better or worse. New opportunities for earning money may come your way or you may receive a lavish gift. Your sense of confidence in money matters may lead to being overextended so try to avoid risky business ventures or investments at this time.

3rd house: If you teach or write, you may find your services in more demand at this time; if you sell a service or product your profits may rise. You may find yourself signing up for more leisure learning type of classes or reading more books. You will get out and about in your immediate vicinity more often, perhaps taking frequent day trips. Your interactions with neighbors and/or siblings are also likely to increase.

4th house: Your involvement with matters relating to home and family grows during this period. This may mean putting time and money into a home renovation project, buying a home or attending a family reunion. You may feel a stronger interest in the past, perhaps taking up genealogy or reading more books about history.

5th house: More opportunities for fun, parties and romance come your way. Your creativity receives a boost and you may be percolating with ideas and projects. If you are a performer, you may receive more offers to strut your stuff. You feel a greater interest in gambling and are likely to have a bit more luck now—but don’t let this lead you to recklessness. Also, you are more likely to conceive or give birth now.

6th house: You feel a renewed interest in matters relating to health, diet and organizing your life. Your handle details is enhanced which is good because your employers or clients are looking more carefully at your work now. This could be a period where you take on a second job or volunteer position. You may also adopt a new pet during this transit.
