Learning the basics of astrology

If you are just beginning to learn astrology, a good first step is to learn the associations of each sign.  Knowing these will help you interpret your chart, or anyone else’s.  For example, if know someone has Mars in Cancer, and you already know Cancer is associated with the 4^th house and the Moon, then you can tell that person will apply their Mars energies toward Moon and 4^th house issues such as family, children and the past.

If you know that another individual has Venus in Scorpio, then you can tell that person’s affections and sense of pleasure and fun will have some connection with Scorpionic issues which include secrecy and spying; metaphysics and sexuality.  If that Venus in Scorpio is in the 9^th house, the person will tend to focus those energies in a context of advanced learning and foreign cultures.  However, if the same planet is in the same sign but in the 5^th house instead, the Venus-Scorpio energy will tend to be directed toward creative projects.
